I saw
nerves severed under a lazer's scrutiny
and a face collapse
eyes floating in pools of silence
breath fluttering out on phosphorous wings
I saw
pliant flesh turn to marble, colder and colder to the touch
flecked with tears and gathering dust
a lost letter
"..if you were sitting by this bed / which I do not wish.."
men and women hobbling with loss
grappling with words they'd rather leave unsaid
I saw
food dripping into an uninterested ocean
moulding scant colour onto the stagnant surface
before swirling irradiated into the brain's maw
while Morphine angels sang of sleep
I saw
breasts filled with chemicals
withered and feeble under my fingers
a hand clasping my wrist
"You and he are the only men who'll ever touch them again"
I saw
a clock such at eleven
and a man vainly pleading for life
a computer screen numbing the inevitable
the blip blip blip of a game
stamping on the cold root of a scream
