Miljana Cunta
/Slovenia, 1976Miljana Cunta was born in 1976 in Šempeter pri Gorici and has moved to Ljubljana in 1995. She has authored three poetry collections: By Half the Sky (Za pol neba, 2010), Poems of the Day (Pesmi dneva, 2014) and Light from Outside (Svetloba od zunaj, 2018), which were shortlisted for major Slovene poetry awards. Her books and selected poems have been translated into eight languages and presented at festivals in Slovenia and abroad. Miljana obtained her MA at the University of Ljubljana and has been working as editor and cultural manager. She was programme director of the Vilenica festival. Occasionally, she translates poetry from English (Christina Rossetti, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Denise Levertov) and Italian (Alda Merini, Luigi Natale, Francesco Tomada). In 2018, she was guest columnist at Slovene major daily Delo and is currently teaching creative writing classes for vulnerable groups.
