Aðalsteinn Ásberg Sigurðsson

(Iceland) was born in Húsavík, in the north of Iceland, in 1955, and grew up in the region. After attending the Commercial College of Iceland in Reykjavík, he studied
Icelandic language, music and acting. In 1977 he made his literary debut with Ósánar lendur (Virgin Soil), a collection of poems. Since then he has published many books of poetry and translated poetry, one novel, a dozen children’s books and has produced many recordings of his lyrics and songs. His most recent poetry books are Eyðibýli (Abandoned Farms), with photographs by Nökkvi Eliasson, and Hjartaborg (Fortress of the Heart). He was president of the Writer´s Union of Iceland from 1998 until 2006. He lives in Reykjavík as a full-time writer, songwriter and publisher of music and literature.
