Luciano Morandini

(Italy), born in 1928. He ranks among the most distinguished poets in Italy and is considered one of the anthological contemporary Italian authors. He was a part of the generation of Pier Paolo Pasolini, Amedeo Giacomini, Tito Maniacco and others; in his youth, as their friend he participated in the modernisation of literary norms in the post-war Italy. He published over ten books of poetry. In 1976, Poetry Sheets Magazine from Trieste published his poem L’aringa d’oro – Golden Herring in a bilingual version – Italian as well as Slovenian, which was followed in 2007 by the anthological edition Iti hoditi – Camminando camminando (Going Walking).
In addition, Morandini published four books of fiction and cultural chronicles of his time Promemoria friulano (1998). He writes radio plays and cultural essays, edits book editions and the magazine Diverse lingue for the Campanotto publisher in Udine. He contributed some translations of Slovenian poetry, e.g. Kosovel in the bibliophilic edition Kras-Carso-Karst by Lojze Spacal and Srečko Kosovel (1979).
