Lydia Steinbacher

Born in 1993 in Waidhofen/Ybbs, grew up in Hollenstein. In Waidhofen/Ybbs she was a member of writting academy for six years under the mentorship of Evelyn Schlag and Peter Bubenik. During this time she cooperated at an art project by Agnes Reiter in Linz, had some smaller readings and received an Austrian award Sprichkode (the largest literary and photo contest for young authors in German-speaking area) for her short story Colchicum autumnale (Scarabaeus Verlag 2012). She currently resides in Vienna, where she studies German philology and writes for weekly newspapers Niederösterreichische Nachrichten and Die Furche. In January 2014 her first independent poetry collection silex was published at Berger Verlag.
