unwittingly i stepped with my feet
into the sundial’s face
the hour lines lie loosely in the shadow
the time border is transient
a shard splinters from the skin
mirroring the last sunray
i show venus a constellation of the earth
cautiously leaning on the shadow stick
the senses aligned to the celestial pole
my inside is akin to the darkness
silent fears perch on my neck like butterflies
contained in concentric annual rings
a nightshade plant which ages
the local time lingers vaguely in the twilight
only in the morning a line of the dial guides me
transforms me into the hand of broken hours
my shadow is a thousand times longer than i
is burdened heavily and in daylight
it’s harder to bear
than late in the evening

ich bin nicht aus absicht mit meinen füßen
ins ziffernblatt der sonnenuhr getreten
die stundenlinien sind lose im schatten
die grenze der zeit ist schwankend
aus der haut splittert eine scherbe
es ist der letzte sonnenstrahl verspiegelt
ich zeige der venus ein sternbild der erde
mit vorsicht gelehnt an den schattenstab
die sinne ausgerichtet zu den himmelspolen
mein innenleben ist der dunkelheit verwandt
mir sitzen stille ängste wie falter im nacken
in konzentrischen jahresringen enthalten
ein nachtschattengewächs das altert
die ortszeit liegt noch unklar im schummer
erst morgens lenkt mich ein messstrich der uhr
macht mich zum zeiger gebrochener stunden
mein schatten ist tausendmal länger als ich
an ihm hängt viel gewicht und im licht
lässt er sich schwerer tragen
als am späten abend
