Michel Deguy

Michel Deguy was born in 1930 in Paris and is one of the most renowned French poets and essayists. He is the honorary professor for literature at Paris VIII University; he regularly collaborates with literary magazines Critique and Les Temps Modernes. Between the years 1990 and 1992, he was president of Collège international de philosophie, and between the years 1992 and 1998, president of La Maison des Ecrivains (The Writers’ House). In 1998 he was awarded Grand Prix de la Poésie, and in 2004, Le Grand prix de la Poésie de L’Académie Française. He has published over 50 poetry collections.
