Simona Popescu
/Romania
(Romania), born in Codlea, on March
10, 1965. Poet. Also novelist and essay
writer. Professor of literature at the
University of Bucharest. Her poetry
books: Xilofonul şi alte poeme
(Xilophone and Other Poems, 1990),
Pauză de respiraţie (Breathing Break,
1991), Juventus (1994). Also is present in various anthologies of Romanian
poetry. Currently writing a book about
the author “portrait” în the novels of the
20th century. She received many literary
prizes: in 1990 prize for best book of
poetry for Xilofonul şi alte poeme
awarded by the cultural journal
Calende, 1995 for best 1994 book of
poetry for Juventus awarded by the cultural
journal Poesis, 1995 “Paula” prize
for best 1994 book of poetry for
Juventus awarded by a jury in Braşov
and 1998 prize for literary achievement
in poetry and prose awarded by the cultural
journal Familia. Her works were
translated in French, English, Hungary,
Italian, Polish and German.
