Agi Mishol
/Israel, 1946Agi Mishol is an established Israeli poet and creative writing teacher. She was born in Transylvania in 1946 to Hungarian Holocaust survivors who came to Israel in 1950. She has published 16 volumes of poetry, including two retrospective collection of her work published in 2003 and in 2015. Many of her poems have been set to music and others translated into many languages. ('Look there' in U.S.A by Graywolf Press, 'Journal du verger' in Franch by Caracteres, 'Ropa Tendida' in Argentina by Poesia Mayor, 'Sheherezada' in Romania by the Institutul Cultural Roman, 'Less like a dove' in England by Shearsman books, and reacently a bilingual edition – 'Ricami Su Ferro', by Giuntina in Italy). Mishol has received the Prime Minister Prize Award, Yehuda Amichay Prize and many others, including the LericiPea price in Italy. She has been nominated by Tel Aviv University and also by Weizmann institute of science as Doctor Philosophia Honoris Causa. She lives in an agricultural community and currently she is the director of the "Helicon" school of poetry in Tel Aviv.
