Ana Ristović

Ana Ristović Serbian poet and translator, born in 1972 in Belgrade, where she still lives. She studied Serbian literature at the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Philology and has published eleven poetry collections to date, including Snovidna voda, Život na razglednici and most recently Tu (2023). Her poetry searches for “that miraculous place that can simply and completely be called here” – somewhere between sea and land, the everyday and the dreamlike. She has translated more than fifty books of contemporary prose and poetry from Slovenian into Serbian, making her one of the key mediators between the Slovenian and Serbian literary scenes. Her selected poems, Directions for Use, was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in the United States. In Serbia, she has received, among other honours, the Dis Award for Lifetime Achievement (2014) and the Vasko Popa Award (2024).
