Barbara Jurša Potocco

Barbara Jurša Potocco (1986, Slovenia) is a graduate of English Language and Comparative Literature and works as a translator and foreign language teacher. She is a well-known translator of Slovenian poetry into English. Jurša Potocco is employed at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Primorska where she teaches a specialized course of English in healthcare. She has a seven-year-old daughter who is proficient in Italian, as the family lives in Trieste. However, although she is currently living abroad, Jurša Potocco grew up in Slovenske gorice, somewhere between Maribor and Ptuj. She has published two books of poetry: Leta v oklepajih (“Years in Parentheses”, 2014) and Milje v Trstu (“Thirst for Trieste/Trst”, 2021). Her poems have been translated into Galician, Serbian, and German.
