Eli Eliahu

Eli Eliahu (1969, Israel) works at the Haaretz daily newspaper as copy editor and writes on poetry and culture. Eliahu has published three poetry collections: I and Not an Angel (Ani veh lo malakh, 2008), which was awarded the Education and Culture Ministry Prize for a debut book; City and Fears (Ir veh-beh-helot, 2012), and Epistle to the Children (2018). In 2013 he was awarded the Matanel Prize for Jewish poetry. In 2014 he was awarded the Prime Minister’s Prize for literature. In 2018, Epistle to the Children (Igeret el ha-jeladim) was the recipient of a commendation of the First Lady’s Award, and in 2019 he was awarded the Hebrew Writers Association in Israel Brenner Prize. His poems have been translated into English, French, Arabic, German, and Turkish.
The poet is coming to the festival with the support of the Israeli Embassy.
