Feri Lainšček

Feri Lainšček (1959, Slovenia), writer, poet, playwright and screenwriter, is one of the most widely read Slovenian authors with a bibliography extending over 100 titles, including 30 novels, many of which have been translated into foreign languages. For his novels, Lainšček received numerous awards: the Prešeren Fund Award in 1995 (The Woman Carried in by the Fog), the Kresnik Award in 1992 (Instead of Whom does the Flower Bloom) and in 2007 (Muriša), the Večernica Award for his collection of tales Little Thoughts, the Desetnica Award for his book Mousy the Mouse and White-mouse; he was also the recipient of the Vesna Best Movie Award for the script of the movie A Summer Hit. The movie Shanghai Gypsy, based on his novel The Untouchables, received the Best Script Award at the Montreal World Film Festival in 2012. In 2021, Lainšček received the Prešeren Lifetime Achievement Award.
