Joumana Haddad

Joumana Haddad (1970, Lebanon) is an award-winning poet, writer, journalist, and human rights advocate. She has been the cultural editor of Lebanon’s An Nahar newspaper until 2017. In 2009, she founded the Jasad Magazine – a quarterly Arabic-language cultural magazine that specializes in literature, the arts, and politics of the body. She taught creative writing and the Italian language at the Lebanese American University in Beirut and she’s also served as Administrator of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction. In 2018, Haddad started hosting a TV show in which she exposes cases of human rights abuse in the Arab world. Haddad has been selected as one of the world’s 100 most influential Arab women by the Arabian Business magazine.
