Maja Vidmar

Maja Vidmar (1961, Slovenia) is a poet living in Ljubljana. She has published 8 poetry collections, the latest, Pojavi (»Phaenomena«) in 2020. Vidmar received the Jenko Prize for the collection Prisotnost (»Presence«), the Prešeren Fund Award and the Vienna scholarship “Groβer Preis für Osteuropäische Literatur”. She was also the recipient of the Umberto Saba Award at the international poetry contest Trieste Scritture di Frontiera (2007). For her collection of poems Sobe (»Rooms«) she received the prize of the Network of Literary Cities (2009). For a decade of creativity Vidmar earned the Velenjica – Cup of Immortality Prize in 2015. 8 of her poetry books were published abroad, the Austrian Leibhaftige Gedichte receiving the Hubert Burda Foundation Prize (1999). Many of her poems were featured in various anthologies, as well as in Slovene and foreign literary magazines.
