Marija Knežević

(Serbia), born in 1963 in Belgrade, is a poet, writer, essayist and translator. She studied Comparative Literature and Literary Theory in Belgrade and obtained her master’s degree in the USA, at Michigan State University, where she taught creative writing for three years. She also worked as a radio journalist preparing literary programmes. She published her debut novel Hrana za pse (Dogs’ Food) in 1989 and in 1994 her first collection of poems. Her most recent works include a collection of feature articles in Politika (a Belgrade magazine) and a collection of short stories entitled Fabula rasa.
