Miroslav Mićanović

Miroslav Mićanović (1960) is a poet, editor and writer born in Brčko. Having graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Zagreb University, his texts have been widely anthologised and translated into Slovenian, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Spanish, German and English. As long-time editor of Quorum, the literary magazine instrumental in shaping Croatia’s postmodernist wave, Mićanović played a key role in redefining the literary field in the late 20th century. Though deceptively simple on the surface, his poetry reveals remarkable refinement and a masterful sensitivity to language. He is the author of numerous poetry collections, including Grad dobrih ljudi (The City of Good People), Zid i fotografije kraja (The Wall and Photos of the End), More i prašina (Sea and Dust), and the bilingual Croatian–French edition Nitko ne govori hrvatski / Personne ne parle croate (Nobody Speaks Croatian, with B. Čegec and I. Prtenjača). His microfiction Dani (The Days) and collaborative project 52 dana: Interkontinental (52 Days: Intercontinental, with B. Čegec) reflect his continued exploration of literary form and cross-genre dialogue.
