Monika Herceg

Monika Herceg (1990, Sisak) is a poet, playwright, editor, feminist, and activist who has won over twenty literary awards. Her debut Početne koordinate (2018) received multiple prizes, including the Goran and Fran Galović Awards. Her second book Lovostaj (2019) won the Prozak Award and the 2024 European Poet of Freedom Award. Her third poetry collection Vrijeme prije jezika (2020) also received critical acclaim. She has won major awards for short stories and plays, including the Marin Držić Award (twice) and recognition from the Croatian National Theater. Her work has been translated into over twenty languages. In 2021, she received the Fierce Women Award for activism. In 2022, her play collection Ubij se, tata was published. She is currently working on her debut novel Razgovori s mrakom and writes a cultural column for Telegram.hr.
