Peter Semolič

Peter Semolič (1967, Slovenia) studied general linguistics and cultural studies at the University of Ljubljana. He has published fifteen books of poetry, the first being Tamariša (“Tamarisk”, 1991) and the last Robovi (“Edges”, 2020), as well as several poetry selections. Semolič has received numerous awards for his work, including the Jenko and Prešeren Fund awards. In 1998, he was awarded with the international Vilenica Crystal Award and Velenjica – čaša nesmrtnosti award for a decade of outstanding poetic work in 2016. Semolič also writes plays, children's literature, essays and translates from English, French, Serbian and Croatian. He is the co-founder and editor of the first Slovenian online poetry magazine Poiesis.
