Korean Film Cycle: Burning

This year, the festival focuses on the poetry and culture of South Korea, therefore we will be introducing the festival with a cycle of contemporary Korean films.

Burning (South Korea, 2018, 148 min)

South Korean-Japanese psychological drama film co-written, produced, and directed by Lee Chang-dong. The first film by Lee after a hiatus of eight years, the film premiered at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, where it ended up receiving the FIPRESCI International Critics' Prize at the festival.

Jong-su bumps into a girl who used to live in the same neighborhood, who asks him to look after her cat while she's on a trip to Africa. When back, she introduces Ben, a mysterious guy she met there, who confesses his secret hobby.
