Ana Pepelnik

Ana Pepelnik is a Slovenian poet and translator from Ljubljana. Before finding her way to poetry, she performed in amateur theatre and worked in a wooden toy shop – her “poetic destiny,” as Mladina wrote, “almost slipped away from her.” To date, she has published eight poetry collections, including the acclaimed Tehno, whose title poem sparked a veritable frenzy among readers. As a translator into Slovenian, she primarily translates American poetry (Plath, Whitman, Tate), and she also collaborates with musicians on improvised performances. She received the Prešeren Foundation Award for her poetry collections V drevo and To se ne pove, while her translation of Škrjanec’s collection Koža was nominated for the PEN American Award.
